The Property
Adjacent parts of a beautifully refurbished seventeenth-century farmhouse, the Maison du Rocher and Vieux Crêt were for a few centuries the only chalets in the now hugely fashionable Village du Crêt. In fact, they are among the few genuinely old chalets in Val d’Isère.
The bedrooms are not huge and are typically higgledy-piggledy, a couple squeezed below the rafters, but they have floor-to-ceiling wood, stone and carpet, good lighting, deep cupboards, and en-suite bathrooms and wcs.
What we like best are the vast yet snug sitting rooms, full of wood and stone and bottomless sofas around roaring log fires. Heathen will enjoy the wide-screen TVs, multi-channel satellite, surround-sound, WiFi etc. The separate dining rooms have open-plan kitchens, where some of our top chefs toil to serve food which has guests exhausting their superlatives. If you have exhausted more than just your superlatives, a glass of wine in the sauna or a glass of bubbly in the hot tub is sure to delight.
The location, in the little hamlet of smart chalets on the left as you reach Val d’Isère proper, is perfect for skiing. The free bus stops a couple of minutes’ walk away, and the Funival is just one stop. For much of the season you can ski most of the way home down the nearby Chemin des Coves (generally called the Avalanche Path in English!). The village centre is two stops away on the bus or about ten minutes on foot
Location
In Village du Crêt, the bus stop is two minutes’ walk, the Funival a single stop and the village centre two stops. If for some reason you decided to go on foot, either would take ten minutes.

Twin/double (9’ x 11’) on second floor, split-level (a further 3’ x 12’ beneath). Bathroom with wc.
Bedroom 5:
Double (12’ x 11’) under eaves on second floor, split-level (a further 7’ x 7’ beneath). Spectacular views in wall-to-wall mirrors!! Bathroom with wc.
Sitting Room:
(20’ x 23’) Vast, comfortable first floor room. Fireplace, DVD, satellite TV (all major channels), fridge for your drinks. South-facing balcony.
Dining Room:
(13’6” x 10’) Next to sitting room. Open-plan kitchen not included in measurements.
Sauna:
On ground floor with further shower.
