Take the Pic Blanc cable car up to 3,300m and you can ski for nearly an hour and a half without having to dig out your lift pass again. Alpe d'Huez has got it all, from some of the best beginner slopes in France to some of the most challenging blacks in the Alps. For a combination of the two, head for the longest black run in the Alps, the Sarenne, which stretches for 16km from the top of the glacier and changes gradient from nearly vertical to virtually horizontal during the 2000m descent. It is a run that can be tackled by any competent intermediate and is well worth the trek up as it is without doubt one of the most beautiful and memorable runs in the Alps.
Full of action with lots of live music. An array of restaurants, cafes, bars and discos. Popular venues include Smithys, The Underground (both with live music), O'Sharkey's for karaoke, Le Grotte de Yeti for a continental atmosphere, and the L'Etelon Bar for 25 different flavours of rum!! Igloo and Les Caves are the most popular nightclubs in resort.
The resort offers extensive leisure facilities, good child care, and lively nightlife. All of these factors contributes to Alpe d'Huez being a superb resort for families, differing grade skiers and boarders, and non-skiers.
