Saas-Fee 'The Pearl of the Alps', is an ancient village in a superb high-altitude setting surrounded by 13 4,000-metre snow capped peaks, including the highest mountain in Switzerland, the Dom (4,545m), forming a dramatic and unique backdrop. At an altitude of 1,800m, with skiing up to 3,600m, Saas Fee is one of the most snow-sure resorts in the Alps. It offers over 140km of skiing in the Saas Valley and a modern lift system. Blackened chalets interspersed with modern hotels, fashion boutiques and ski shops line its narrow car-free streets, and with outstanding views it is one of the most beautiful resorts in the Alps.
A Saas Fee Ski Holiday
The winter snow sports area in the Saas Valley has something special for everyone: wide, smooth pistes for carvers, mogulled pistes for experts, and gentle pistes for beginners.
The great advantage of the Saas Valley's ski area is that it has guaranteed snow. Because of its high altitude with pistes up to 3,600 m above sea-level and the ski area on the glacier, there is guaranteed skiing and snowboarding all year round. All pistes which are not on the glacier have snow-making with 80 snow-cannons.
Snowboarders and freestyle skiers will find their own little paradise in the Freestyle Park at the Mittelallalin. The park is groomed all year, with a half-pipe, kickers and rails. Here, you can also relax on a comfortable couch to the sound of good music in the "Chill Zone".
Where to Eat and Drink in Saas Fee
Because of its countless bars and discos, the Saas Valley is famous for its night-life well beyond the borders of the Valais.
In winter you can hardly miss all the different après-ski bars. The relaxed atmosphere and dance music attract hundreds of young people and the young at heart to join in a glass of mulled wine.
When night falls, the motto is: "Let's party!" The partying continues in the in-places as well as in the cosy bars and pubs until the early hours.
Excellent food is guaranteed in Saas Fee….the wide variety of cuisine served in over 100 restaurants ranges from traditional specialities from the Valais to the most exquisite gourmet cuisine. Snacks are also readily available: cafés, bars serving snacks and pizzerias ensure that you can find something to suit all appetites both day and night.
