The Property

Chalet 1808 is a luxury chalet in the Gstaad region, an alpine retreat offering a peaceful location and spacious living areas abundant in authentic charm. The chalet welcomes groups of up to 14 guests and offers 7-ensuite bedrooms and a vast entertaining space found in its neighbouring large annexe 'The Barn'. This makes the chalet perfect for large get-togethers and family gatherings.

The chalet takes its name from the year it was originally built, operating as a coaching station for horse and carriages in 1808. Whilst having undergone renovations, the chalet still maintains it traditional character, with generous spaces that exhibit a traditional alpine style. Original woodwork remains throughout the chalet, which is furnished to a high standard and decorated with a classical elegance. Handcrafted decorations, historic photographs and artwork, and antique furnishings all help to imbue this traditional sense of character, felt throughout every corner of this wonderful property.

The main chalet is set across three levels, with the main living areas spread across the middle floor. There are two living rooms with plenty of comfortable lounge seating to help you unwind. A formal dining area is staged beneath an extra-tall slanting ceiling, with a long banquet table seating 10 surrounded by quaint French windows that gaze out upon alpine meadows and mountains. The kitchen comes fully-equipped, yet manages to seamlessly stay in keeping with the chalet's distinct style. Set around the chalet, you will find both balconies and terrace areas, inviting spaces to enjoy the fresh air and stunning mountain environment.

There are several office and study areas within Chalet 1808, where you can escape to for moments of privacy or quiet reflection. These include a private study and a music room, with sound equipment to enjoy your favourite music.

The Barn is a capacious 950m² property that was added next door to Chalet 1808 in 1862, operating as a dairy farm and later as a place to host celebrations, a function it still serves today. The chalet covers two floors, boasting an expansive, airy open-plan entertainment space, featuring vaulted ceilings, rustic interiors, and inviting lounge sofas. There is a second, distinguished lounge area on the ground floor, as well as a large dining room with natural stone walls that evoke a sense of grandeur.

Chalet 1808 features five double bedrooms and a bunk room in the main building, sleeping up to 12 guests. The fixed double beds offer a welcoming respite at the end of your day. The original features and antique decor make it easy to imagine what it was like to board at the chalet in its bygone days as a coaching station. Each of these rooms comes equipped with private en-suite shower facilities, with three bedrooms located on the bottom and top floors apiece. The Barn also hosts the final bedroom of Chalet 1808. An ideal space for those who require some extra privacy away from the rest of the group, this spacious double bedroom also benefits from its own lounge and dining area. There is also a kitchenette, mezzanine lounge overlooking the bedroom, and an en-suite shower room.

Chalet 1808 has garage and exterior parking, with space for up to 4 cars in total. The chalet also has space for ski and luggage storage, as well as having boot warmers and laundry facilities. There is elevator access between the three floors.

Prices are based on exclusive use of the chalet for up to 14 guests and is offered on a self-catered basis only. Prices do not include taxes, which will be calculated on top.
