The Property
Named after Edward Whymper, the first alpinist to summit the Matterhorn, The Whymper Residence is a luxurious third-floor chalet apartment in the heart of Zermatt. Spanning 315m², it comfortably accommodates for groups of 8 guests, with the capacity to increase to a capacity of 12. With its prime central location, stunning Matterhorn views, and access to shared wellness facilities, it offers the perfect alpine retreat for families or friends.
The Whymper Residence welcomes guests into a large and bright, open-plan living space featuring plush and modern furnishings. Two comfortable sofa areas have been thoughtfully designed to encourage relaxation and a convivial atmosphere. One has been carefully positioned to maximise the warmth from the fireplace, whilst the other sits in next to the TV for casual viewing. On the opposite side, a dining area has a spacious wooden table is perfectly suited for shared meals and lively gatherings. It seamlessly connects to the fully-equipped kitchen, which features a convenient breakfast bar and stools, with all the essentials for preparing meal preparations. Following mealtimes, step out onto The Whymper Residence's south-facing balcony, accessed via the main living area, to finish the night in view of the iconic Matterhorn.
Back inside the property, The Whymper Residence's elegant TV lounge allows guests to catch up on their latest series or host unforgettable movie nights as a whole family. Equipped with cosy sofas, this room can be closed off from the rest of the apartment for viewing in privacy.
The Whymper Residence sleeps 8 guests across four beautifully appointed bedrooms, complete with en-suite or shared bathroom facilities. All bedrooms have been decorated in similar styles, presenting a calming space to unwind and enjoy your well-deserved night's rest from a day on the mountains. Two bedrooms benefit from a shared balcony, perfect for enjoying snowy views first thing. For extra flexibility, three bedrooms can be organised into twin bed set-ups. There's a sofa bed in the TV lounge and pull-out beds in each of the twin rooms, which allow for an additional 4 guests to be accommodated, please enquire.
Guests staying at The Whymper Residence have complimentary use of an array of shared wellness facilities, accessed through a tunnel to a neighbouring luxury hotel. After an intensive day of skiing in Zermatt, the rejuvenating spa area houses a large indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi whirlpools, saunas, steam room, massage treatment rooms and gym facilities, to aid your post-ski recovery needs. Guests also have use of a shared ski room with boot warmers, found in the residence building, to store any equipment.
Prices are based on exclusive use of the property for up to 8 guests and is offered on a self catered basis with in-resort electro-taxi on arrival & departure.

Location
The Whymper Residence is situated in the very heart of Zermatt, providing effortless access to skiing and the resort's attractions.
For skiing, the property is located just a 2-minute walk from the Gornergrat Railway and 7 minutes from the Sunnegga funicular. The Klein Matterhorn Express gondola is also only a couple of minutes via an electro-taxi, providing the main entry point to the Matterhorn.
Nestled beside the ice skating rinks, The Whymper Residence is only a minute's walk from the main Bahnhofstrasse road that runs through the heart of resort. Here, guests have the opportunity to explore a selection of stylish cafés, bars, restaurants and shops with ease. It is also just a 2-minute walk from the train station.
