Luxury ski-in ski-out chalets in the Three Valleys are an avid skier’s dream retreat. It’s fair to say there are few properties more exclusive than the ski-in ski-out chalets of the world’s largest interconnected ski area. There’s not a second worth losing with 159 lifts transporting you over 600km of pristine piste. So skip the shuttle buses, along with the arduous slog of carrying half the family’s skis, and treat yourself to the pinnacle of luxury chalet accommodation; where your favourite ski area lies right on your doorstep.
To help you find a ski-in ski-out chalet for your next luxury ski holiday to the Three Valleys, I have compiled some of my personal favourites. Keep reading to discover the best slopeside chalets where I highlight ski access, chalet facilities and who it is best suited to.
#1 Shemshak Lodge, Courchevel 1850
Shemshak Lodge is a luxury ski-in ski-out chalet in Courchevel 1850. Positioned on the side of the red Dou du Midi piste leading to the Plantrey chairlift. This magnificent chalet sleeps eight to thirteen guests and boasts beautiful wellness facilities such as the incredibly stylish indoor swimming pool with views over the valley. No wonder it features in our Ultimate Luxury Chalets collection!
I recommend this chalet to groups of intermediate and confident skiers for ski-in, ski-out access, since less experienced skiers could find the piste it sits on challenging. However, the chalet’s private chauffeur service can take the less experienced skiers to the Croisette (the meeting point for most ski schools) in just a 5-minute drive.
#2 Ultima 4BR Courchevel, Courchevel Moriond
Lined up along the cruising green Belvédère piste and a few hundred metres from the main Ariondaz gondola, are the Ultima 4-bedroom chalets. The properties are part of a larger complex but are private chalets, each with its own character. These luxury ski-in ski-out chalets of Courchevel Moriond comfortably sleep eight guests and have terrific ski access. It’s a good option for groups with beginners as the Belvédère button lift sits just below the chalets. There is an in-house ski boutique where you can arrange ski rental as well as in-house ski instructors. They offer private lessons to improve even the most experienced skier’s technique!
Once you’re all skied out, retreat to your luxury chalet and make the most of the beautiful shared facilities. Start with the wellness facilities and recharge in the hammam, sauna and outdoor swimming pool, finishing off with an evening drink at the elegant bar. Ultima’s 4-bedroom chalets are offered on a B&B board basis with options for additional services such as private chefs and childcare. Read more about their unique service in our blog, ‘An Ultima-te Courchevel Experience’.
#3 Chalet Trois Ours, Méribel
Below the jumping Rond Point après-ski bar, on the blue Doron piste, lies this luxury ski-in ski-out chalet in Méribel. With speedy access to the rest of the Three Valleys from the main Chaudanne in Méribel centre, I recommend Chalet Trois Ours to keen skiers who want to explore the wider ski areas. It’s worth noting the Doron Piste down to Méribel centre is a busy blue and may challenge beginners skiing down. Though not to worry, the chalet’s driver service can deliver any concerned learners to the ski school meeting point where they can build their confidence.
This chalet comfortably sleeps ten guests and has wellness facilities inclusive of an outdoor hot tub, steam room and gym. What’s more, Chalet Trois Ours is catered by an experienced team of staff, so delicious dinners are fully taken care of on your luxury ski holiday in Méribel.
#4 Chalet B, Courchevel 1850
Perched just above the aforementioned Shemshak Lodge, and also featuring in our Ultimate Luxury Chalet’s collection sits Chalet B. In an enviable location on the red Dou du Midi piste it’s just 450m from the Plantrey ski lift. This luxury ski-in ski-out chalet of Courchevel 1850 sleeps fourteen guests and has a host of desirable wellness features. An indoor swimming pool, sauna and hammam welcome you off the mountain, rejuvenating your legs for tomorrows exhilarating alpine adventure. The chalet features panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, showcasing the jaw-dropping views of the snow swept valley. The sophisticated Chalet B suits groups that appreciate the finer touches of a luxury catered chalet in Courchevel 1850.
Whilst the ski access is fantastic, I would caution beginner skiers before sliding onto the red Dou du Midi piste. There are alternative options, such as the peronsal driver service that can deliver you directly to the Croisette if preferred. Chalet B’s dedicated chalet team deliver an extravagant, unforgettable catered service, so you can relax on your luxury ski holiday to Courchevel 1850 leaving everything in their capable hands.
#5 Chalet Becca, La Tania
At the bottom of the picturesque blue Folyeres piste and the beginner-friendly green, Plan Fontaine, is Chalet Becca. This 8-person self-catered ski chalet in the ski resort of La Tania is just 50 metres from the gondola. La Tania’s snow front has a beginner slope with a magic carpet just around the corner. Plus in just two lifts, you can access the exclusive resort of Courchevel 1850. Chalet Becca sits opposite the New Generation ski school, so dropping the kids off is as easy as crossing the piste.
Chalet Becca is well-suited to families with young children, due to its easy access to ski schools and green runs into resort. La Tania offers evening entertainment with live music throughout the week in Pub Le Ski Lodge and La Taiga. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from too. Classic Savoyard options can be found at La Taiga, or fine dining at Le Farçon; there’s something for everyone.
#6 Chez Bugi, St Martin de Belleville
Ski-in ski-out chalets are a scarce luxury in the charming family friendly ski resort of St Martin de Belleville. Chez Bugi sits on the blue Biolley piste leading into the traditional French alpine village, just above the St Martin gondola. Enjoy skiing back on some of the most entertaining slopes in the Three Valleys. My personal favourite is Jerusalem, the rolling blue is a great ski back home. Meribel centre is two lifts away and there’s easy access to Les Menuires and the rest of the Three Valleys. St Martin’s main pistes are all blue or red, which is worth keeping in mind for complete beginners. However, there is also an ideally located novice area tucked away from the main ski traffic. It’s a perfect spot for progression before taking on the longer pistes.
Sleeping twelve guests in six bedrooms, I recommend this chalet to families and groups of all ages. Its internal lift increases accessibility for all guests. The outdoor hot tub and sauna make great additions to an already luxurious ski chalet. Chez Bugi is offered as catered or self-catered board basis to best suit your holiday needs.
Like Shemshak Lodge, Chez Bugi also features in our Ultimate Luxury Chalets collection.
#7 Chalet Golden Jubilee, Val Thorens
Chalet Golden Jubilee is a stylish luxury ski-in ski-out chalet in Val Thorens with breathtaking mountain views. Found on the exciting Plein Sud blue piste, where La Folie Douce soundtracks your ski down, Chalet Golden Jubilee awaits further down towards the bottom of the slope. A short ski down to the Pioneers chairlift will connect you to the extensive Three Valleys ski area.
Sleeping up to twelve guests, the chalet features an indoor swimming pool with counter current, a sauna and a hammam, so you can relax in style on your luxury ski holiday to Val Thorens. Benefit from the use of Hotel Koh-I Nor’s facilities, like their 800m² spa area, selection of restaurants and bars. The chalet is offered on a B&B, catered or self-catered board basis to best suit your group’s holiday desires. The best of both worlds, this chalet works for groups of keen skiers seeking hotel service and their own space. It’s great for corporate and family groups alike.
Chalet Cullinan and Chalet Orlov are also a part of Hotel Koh-I Nor. These chalets can be taken with Chalet Golden Jubilee to accommodate groups of up to 34.
#8 Chalet Ascension, Courchevel Moriond
At the bottom of the Belvédère green run, next to the Mickey and Belvédère button lifts, sits one of the growing number of luxury ski-in ski-out chalets in Courchevel Moriond. Sleeping twelve to fourteen guests, Chalet Ascension boasts views out over the piste to the snowy peaks on the horizon. With quick access to the Ariondaz lift, waste no time in getting up the mountain. Courchevel Moriond has gentle wide green runs that make it a great learning environment, ideal for beginners.
Indulge in the chalet’s private wellness facilities, from the indoor swimming pool to the sauna and hammam. There’s also a massage room should you want to ease any tight muscles. When it comes to board, the chalet is offered both catered or self-catered for your flexibility. A great choice for families, Chalet Ascension has plenty to entertain its younger guests. Hours of fun can be had in the cinema room and on the table football.
#9 Chalet Eleonore, Méribel
This ski-in ski-out chalet in Méribel ski resort sits to the side of the green Fôret piste, a few minutes ski from the main Chaudanne lift area of Méribel centre on the Doron blue piste. Chalet Eleonore has easy access to the wider ski areas and is also nearby the ski school meeting points. On the way, you’ll spot the Adret chairlift, as well as the brilliant Rond Point après-ski bar; this legendary bar is a great spot to close out your ski day!
Chalet Eleonore comfortably sleeps eight, and an extra bed can be added to each bedroom for four additional guests. Offered on a catered or B&B basis, it features a spa area with a private indoor swimming pool, hammam and sauna. Chalet Eleonore also has access to the luxury Hotel Le Coucou and its shared facilities through the connecting corridor. So, why not relax in the Tata Harper spa after a tiring day’s ski? Additionally, you can tantalize your taste buds by dining in any of the three restaurants on offer. This chalet is well-suited to family groups looking to benefit from both hotel services and facilities, while still having the privacy of their own space.
#10 Cocoon 14, Val Thorens
Lastly, in an ideal spot for early season ski holidays in Europe’s highest ski resort, Val Thorens is Cocoon 14; a self-catered apartment sleeping up to fourteen guests. You can ski out the door and onto the Plein Sud blue piste, through the centre of Val Thorens. You can not only enjoy effortless access to the Three Valleys ski area, but also easily return home from the fabulous Folie Douce après-ski; depending on how hard you’ve partied!
Hop into the outdoor Jacuzzi and take in the panoramic views of the snowy valley. Then step up your relaxation to the next level in the apartment’s private sauna. The building also has a shared swimming pool and a social room. For groups who want to be amongst the resort’s lively atmosphere, and to have the flexibility of a self catered apartment, I would highly recommend Cocoon 14.
The Cocoon complex has other ski-in ski-out properties for a variety of group sizes in the building, whether you’re a family of four or a party of 14. To accommodate even larger groups, multiple apartments can be taken together.
