I may be a tiny bit biased having completed a season here myself but Morzine in my opinion quite simply has it all! Firstly, being just a mere hour from Geneva airport, this resort is exceptionally convenient and doesn’t have the long transfer time that you often  get with the Three Valleys or l’Espace Killy commute. Plus the terrain on offer here is huge! With a massive 650km to play around in across 2 countries and 13 resorts, the Portes du Soleil is the largest linked ski area in Europe.

If that wasn’t enough then the simple charm of Morzine will have you smitten as soon as you drive in. With a stunning river running through the centre of town, a quaint and quirky high street, and traditional alpine style chalets that are so often missing in some of the more soulless purpose built resorts, you will wonder why you haven’t visited before! Oh and did I happen to mention the resort offers guests great value for money too? Lift passes, restaurants and chalets are all cheaper than resorts such as Courchevel and Meribel allowing your money to stretch much, much further.

Take a look at a selection of our favourite luxury chalets in Morzine:

Chalet Twenty26

In terms of Luxury chalets there are some notable operators in Morzine that have certainly raised the bar when it comes to Luxury Boutique chalets. Chalet Twenty26 is definitely no exception. With an enviable combination of a secluded private location yet just 500m from the Nyon lift and with some breathtaking views of the Dents Blanche mountain range, you’ll be happy before you even step inside! Inside you’re met with a tasteful contemporary interior featuring a mixture of textures you just want to reach out and touch. With a state of the art audio system, roaring fire, cinema room and wrap around balcony you won’t be disappointed. Finally, the pièce de résistance has to be the barrel sauna outside, which looks like you’re stepping into a secret snow covered cave!

Chalet Grand Joux

If privacy and a remote location is your thing then Le Grand Joux is for you. When I say privacy I’m not just talking about a private road, I’m talking about privacy that is only accessible by snowmobile or helicopter in the winter! This is a chalet for those who wish to get away from it all…..including the Paparazzi if you’re a VIP who they won’t leave alone! It’s exclusive and stunningly luxurious in every way.

The chalet itself is the epitome of traditional alpine decor mixed with some beautiful vintage furniture including huge leather armchairs ready for you to sink straight into! Featuring an array of facilities that will keep any group more than entertained, the highlight of the chalet has to be the location of course, but also the impressive spa facilities, which include a wood burning outdoor hot tub, dry floatation bath, the very unique Alpha Lounger, and an outside barrel sauna. After a dip in the hot tub why not perch at the bar in front of the fire and have a drink?

Chalet Igloo

If a central location is what you’re after look no further than Chalet Igloo. Situated just off the Pleney piste, the chalet offers an almost ski in ski out location (with a very short walk in between!) This chalet shouts personality with a variety of quirky features and decor, which is a feast for the eyes. Boasting an array of facilities including a cinema with surround sound and original cinema seats, a bar and table football you won’t be short of things to do! If the chalet is not providing enough entertainment then the lively apres bars and restaurants are a brief stroll into town.

Restaurant Clin d’Oeil

There are plenty of great places to eat in Morzine, but a favourite of mine has to be the Clin d’Oeil in a great “blink and you’ll miss it” location, slightly off the beaten track near the Carre Four. A very friendly welcome awaits you as well as an extremely tempting menu with all the usual Savoyard delights such as Raclette. Offering great value for money as well as set menus, this restaurant comes very highly recommended. They do a great trio of Duck starter that will really get you salivating, wash it down with a local glass of Gamay and you’ll leave more than contented! Or in the summer we love their delicious shell fish salads- simply delightful!

Apres and Nightlife

When it comes to Apres in Morzine you are literally spoilt for choice. At the bottom of the Pleney slopes that faint beat of a speaker you’ll hear is likely to be the Hotel Le Tremplin, which offers some really lively apres in the shape of local dj’s playing outside on the terrace. If a live band is more your thing head to the Cavern, a downstairs bar with sticky floors that will have you up and dancing in no time. For a bit more character and more music and live sport, Dixie Bar is a firm favourite and always guarantees a lively evening!
