Les Grands Montets peaks out at 3,300 snowsure metres. There is even a piste right off the top, and scores of off-piste options, such as the awesome Pas de Chevre. Take the piste or any other route down to Logon and, if you wish, continue on down the well cannoned Pierre a Ric to Argentière. A total vertical descent of over 2 kilometres! Excellent beginner and nursery slopes also ensure Argentiere is ideal for skiers of all abilities, and with 2 ski kindergartens, children are well catered for.
The North-facing pistes of Argentiere hold their snow well into the end of the season, and with the Mont Blanc lift pass covering a number of resorts, from neighbouring Chamonix, to Megeve and even the Swiss resort of Verbier, there's always exceptional skiing to be found in Argentiere.
Things to See and Do
In Argentière apres-ski is generally low-key, however for a small village there's a surprisingly wide selection of apres spots to choose from. For live music, the Office Bar is the favoured British watering-hole. The Stone Bar is also popular with both tourists and locals. A sometimes lively option is the Savoy Bar, which is particularly popular during happy hour.
For those seeking livelier nightlife options, the advantage of Argentiere is its proximity to Chamonix, just 8km down the valley. Here you'll find an abundance of restaurants, bars, cafes, and nightclubs. The ski and board-mad early evening trade starts at 5pm at bars such as the Chambre Neuf. There is no shortage of lively watering-holes along the rue du Docteur Paccard. The bars empty at about 7.30pm, when snow-users return to their catered chalets or apartments for dinner. From about 10.30pm the partying starts up again at Le Chamonix Social Club, which has resident and guest DJs. For cocktails and 1920s vibes, L'Alibi is open until 2am daily whilst Amnesia is perfect for the dedicated night-owls, only closing up their bars and dancefloors at 4am.
