Skiing in Zermatt is exceptional for many reasons. Zermatt has the highest ski resort lift access point in Europe, and Zermatt snow conditions are amongst the best in Europe. The National, one of the longest black runs in the Alps, runs from the Blauherd back almost to resort level and is an exhilarating test when skiing Zermatt. There is also the No. 59 piste in Zermatt/Cervinia that has a vertical drop of 250m in a distance of just over 750 metres. Its steepest point is a 65% gradient. No worries for novice skiers in Zermatt though, there are well groomed pistes that will suit your level.
